Mille Fleur – ‘Swathe’
Carved Poplar panel with cast and gilded goldwork embroidery, 8′ x 7′.
Sophie’s latest commission was inspired by a combination of 16th century tapestries and intricate goldwork embroidery. Designed and made for an Elizabethan Manor House, the piece details a swathe of wild flowers. The stitching on each individual flower is hand tooled, cast and gilded before being worked into it’s final composition.
We are incredibly excited by this unique technique developed in the studio.
